Summary

As a Medical Records Specialist at Curana Health, you play a crucial role in managing the retrieval of internal and external records requests from various entities such as insurance carriers, law offices, home health agencies, and DME agencies. You ensure that records from external EMRs are retrieved for coding and billing purposes, adhere to set performance goals, and maintain files and reports related to the department. Your role supports Curana's mission, values, strategic goals, and high standards of customer service, while adhering to the Corporate Compliance Program, including confidentiality of HIPAA-protected health information.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the retrieval of internal and external records requests from various entities such as insurance carriers, law offices, home health agencies, and DME agencies.
  • Ensure records from external EMRs are retrieved for coding and billing purposes.
  • Adhere to set performance goals and maintain files and reports related to the department.
  • Support Curana's mission, values, strategic goals, and high standards of customer service.
  • Adhere to the Corporate Compliance Program, including confidentiality of HIPAA-protected health information.

Qualifications

Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing medical records.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in medical records management or a related field.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMRs) systems.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and coding.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
