Summary

The Clinical Pharmacist supports pharmacy services across Curana Health plans. This role provides consultative clinical expertise for multiple Medicare Part D plans within Curana’s portfolio and additional assigned clients. The position includes partnership with our PBM to deliver quarterly and annual reviews focused on clinical and financial pharmacy performance, utilization trends, and quality outcomes.
This is a fully remote role with occasional domestic travel for client engagement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the pharmacy subject matter expert for internal partners (Curana Health Pharmacy Solutions, Group Medicare Sales, Plan Management) and external clients.

  • Act as the primary clinical resource for assigned clients by providing insights on pharmacy utilization, clinical programs, and quality performance.

  • Lead client-facing meetings to review pharmacy reporting and discuss STAR measures, including medication-related quality opportunities.

  • Support clinical quality initiatives related to STAR performance for internal Group Medicare teams and external clients.

  • Develop and present patient-specific clinical plans and targeted interventions to improve outcomes, collaborating with prescribers, care teams, and facility/pharmacy partners.

  • Provide full-service support to Curana Health SNP for all pharmacy-related needs.

  • Oversee Curana’s Medication Therapy Management (MTM) program.

  • Conduct claims reviews to identify trends, outliers, clinical gaps, and improvement strategies driving adherence, medication safety, and optimization.

  • Participate in quality and compliance committees.

  • Oversee delegated PBM functions including formulary management, prior authorizations, redeterminations, and grievances.

  • Provide expertise related to annual pharmacy benefit planning and readiness activities.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders on messaging, strategy, and data analysis for clinical and operational teams and external clients.

  • Support client adoption of pharmacy/clinical product offerings and promote utilization of preferred formulary products.

  • Identify clinical needs and pharmacy product opportunities within the Part D team.

  • Support pharmacy-related compliance requirements.

  • Create and maintain pharmacy services policies and procedures.

  • Support CMS and internal mock Part D audit activities.

  • Monitor and maintain Part D items displayed on plan websites.

Qualifications

  • Active pharmacy license in good standing; PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited program.

  • Minimum 3 years of PBM or managed care experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of Medicare experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of pharmacy practice experience.

  • Knowledge of long-term care pharmacy.

  • Understanding of pharmacy utilization metrics and pharmacy spend/financial trends.

  • Proven success in consulting across teams and managing projects independently.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage internal teams, external clients, and prescribers professionally and responsively.

  • Ability to build cross-functional relationships and work collaboratively.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Willingness to represent Curana Health at association meetings, conferences, and similar events.

Preferred Qualifications 

 

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Access and Microsoft Project.

  • Experience with pharmacy benefits and health benefits management.
