Summary

If you've spent a few years in traditional practice, you know the frustration: fragmented schedules, administrative overload, and a model that often feels more like checkbox medicine than real patient care.

Curana is built differently.

Our physicians consistently say this is the best job they've ever had. That's not a talking point; it's what we hear directly from doctors who made the switch. This role is a true 7 on / 7 off block schedule: seven consecutive days on service, seven days completely off. Twenty-six weeks a year of protected time, a predictable rhythm you can plan a life around, and no competing outpatient panel pulling at your attention while you're on.

We're looking for physicians who want to do focused, high-acuity inpatient rehabilitation medicine, and who want the rest of their calendar back.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

We're seeking a mission-driven Physician to serve in an inpatient comprehensive rehabilitation facility (IRF). You'll lead the interdisciplinary team, manage medically complex patients through their functional recovery, mentor APPs, and advocate for the patients in your care.

Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off, full-time

  • Complete admission history and physicals, establish rehabilitation goals, and document the individualized overall plan of care within required timeframes.
  • Conduct face-to-face visits at least three days per week (and daily as clinical acuity requires) to assess medical and functional progress and adjust the plan of care.
  • Lead weekly interdisciplinary team conferences with PT, OT, speech-language pathology, nursing, case management, and social work to set goals, track progress, and plan discharge.
  • Review and sign off on preadmission screenings, confirming rehabilitation appropriateness and IRF medical necessity criteria.
  • Manage active comorbidities, medications, pain, and post-acute complications so patients can participate fully in intensive therapy.
  • Partner with Advanced Practice Providers to manage daily rounding, complex visits, and after-hours needs, ensuring compliance and clinical excellence.
  • Oversee APP performance, serving as a mentor and resource to elevate care delivery across your team.
  • Close quality gaps when prompted, driving measurable improvements in functional outcomes, length of stay, and discharge to community.
  • Coordinate safe transitions of care with referring acute hospitals, post-acute partners, families, and outpatient providers.
  • Represent Curana Health's mission and values as a clinical leader and ambassador in the communities you serve.

What Makes Curana Different

A schedule that actually protects your life. Seven on, seven off. When you're off, you're off. No pager, no charting backlog, no clinic waiting for you. Physicians tell us the predictability is what makes this model sustainable in a way traditional practice never was.

True clinical autonomy. You lead your unit. You have meaningful control over how you round, how you sequence your day, and how you drive the interdisciplinary plan of care. Less protocol-driven overhead, more room for real clinical judgment.

Infrastructure that supports you. Curana provides structured onboarding, ongoing training, and support teams that are actually responsive. You'll get help with documentation, regulatory requirements, and adapting to value-based care, plus a defined handoff process so the transition between blocks is clean.

Data-driven tools built for your patients. AI-powered insights, smart communication platforms, and modern EMR integrations help you track functional gains and manage acuity across your census, so you can focus on care, not catching up.
